Does anyone out there have a policy about staying within arms reach of a patient.....we are attempting to reign in our use of double tred colored safety socks. Patients wearing socks up walking unassisted in the hall. Then leaving patients with socks in the bathroom unassisted then someone should stay at the elbow. Thanks!

Does anyone have a product they are using that actively wicks the fluid away from the skin?

Jen, If your Sepsis rates are going up and your Sepsic shock rates are going down, have you considered that your ED is doing a better job of earlier recognition? I think this is what you would want to see. That is supported in the literature. We have EPIC at our hospital and developed an online tool to put our information in. We run two computers side by side, one with EPIC/documentation and the other with the online tool on Microsoft Access. Once you become familiar with the tool tabbing to insert the information is do-able. The more lengthy hospital stays are the most time consuming.
