  • Keystone Center PSO Weekly Update: April 24-30

    Upcoming Events

    • April 26: Nominations for the 2018 second quarter MHA Keystone Center Speak-up! Award are due this Thursday. Information about the award and nomination process is available online.
    • April 27: The MHA Keystone Center will host a member forum to discuss the new Michigan Opioid Legislation Hospital Compliance Checklist. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in-person at MHA headquarters, Okemos, during which a lunch will be provided. Those who cannot attend in person may participate in the event through a virtual option. Members are asked to register by April 25.
    • April 28: The US Drug Administration Association (DEA) is hosting its annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which is designed to prevent pill abuse and theft by encouraging consumers to rid their homes of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. The DEA has posters, web buttons, and other resources available to hospitals and other healthcare providers that would like to participate in the day's event.
    • May 16: Understanding and Mitigating Ligature Risk webinar, taking place from 1 to 2 p.m.
    • May 17: MHA Keystone Center PSO safe table focused on transitions of care in small and rural communities will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the William H. Kitti Education Center, Kalkaska. This safe table will occur in conjunction with the Michigan Critical Access Hospital Quality Network quarterly meeting.
    • June 12: MHA Keystone Center PSO safe table focused on obstetrical adverse events will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at the Grand Valley University – L.V. Eberhard Center, Grand Rapids.

    • June 20: Root Cause Analysis and Action (RCA²) Training, taking place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Kalamazoo. Please begin submitting RCAs to NextPlane Solutions if you plan to participate in this event. Registration will open soon.

    • The April 24 Peer Support in Healthcare webinar is rescheduled for June 4 from 10 to 11 a.m. Registration will open soon.
    • The Joint Commission recently issued a Sentinel Event Alert in an effort to help prevent physical and verbal violence against healthcare workers. This alert, which should be shared widely with healthcare professionals, promotes a culture change in the healthcare environment to stress a health and safe workplace for all, and that violence of any kind is not permitted.
